When we buy for the coming seasons we tend to see many of our suppliers on different days and its not always easy to remember just exactly what you have bought from one supplier and another. Obviously we make notes as to what we have bought, styles, colours etc but getting exact shades is often difficult.

This season Jayne has put together an almost ‘perfect’ display of a Gabicci Sweater and Shirt, A pair of Meyer Trousers and another shirt from Melka.

The colours, shades and textures in each of the garments blend perfectly, complementing each other and creating a stunning combination of garments. Even if I do say so myself, we didn’t do a bad job with the buying from these ranges from 3 seperate agents on different days.

This week we received a delivery of Milestone Leather jackets and as usual, they are superb quality.

Both jackets are Nappa Leather, ( Nappa leather or Napa leather is a full-grain leather, typically dyed, made from unsplit kid-, lamb- or sheep-skin by tanning with salts of chromium or aluminium sulphate, and noted for softness and durability. It is often used in high-quality leather products such as high-end furniture and accessories such as wallets and luggage. One example would be interiors of luxury vehicles - source Wikipedia) made using lamb skins and are extremely soft to touch.

Our Made to Measure service has always been busy because we provide a quality product at a competitive price and this has meant that here at Laurie Hopkins Menswear we continue to see a growth in the Bespoke suit market when maybe other areas of clothing are slowing down a little.

This growth is even more apparent in the Bespoke Wedding Suit sector where it seems that more and more Groom’s are looking to have a suit made to measure for their big day.

With this in mind, we have sourced a few new sample cloth bunches from the local mills which feature many cloths that would be suitable for a made to measure wedding suit. These cloths come in many shades and designs and include light weight wools and wool and cashmere mixes.

If you were to ask me to list the staple items that everyman should have in his wardrobe (irrespective of his age) then the humble Navy Blue Pure New Wool Blazer has to be one of the first on the list.

. . . . was the question posed on the telephone yesterday.

I had a new customer ring me to see if we had something that was a little different, something that was not just the usual run of the mill dinner suit. He had been searching the internet and had come across the Laurie Hopkins Menswear website where we have many hirewear and ready to wear pictures but he was looking for something a little different. So the question was, could we find him a suitable Dinner Suit before his deadline for the Winter Ball?

First, let me apologise for not posting on the blog for a while, its been very busy time here at Laurie Hopkins Menswear.

Last week saw the arrival of many reps and agents with their Spring Summer 2009 collections (I will post later about these ranges), many of these agents carry more than one companies ranges and as you can imagine, it can get quite hectic when you are looking at 3-4 ranges on a morning and then others in the afternoon.

However, not content with looking at ranges last week we also were a member of staff down as Jayne took a few (Very well earned) days off. We were also busy in the shop as our sale is coming to an end and the New Autumn/Winter 08/09 ranges flood in.

One day last week, we took delivery of over 100 pairs of trousers, 120 shirts and knitwear as well as over 50 Suits, Jackets and Overcoats - that was a busy day I can tell you.

I have taken a few photos of the new ranges along with the buying etc and I will post them later this week, so keep coming back and having a look at our blog.
